Vietnam Veterans' Day

Join us to commemorate the 51st Anniversary of the cessation of the Vietnam War.

Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam War began in 1962 with the arrival of the Australian Army in South Vietnam. Almost 60 000 Australian’s including Army, Navy and Air Force personnel, served in Vietnam. 521 Australian’s died as a result of the war and over 3000 were wounded.

We will gather at the War Memorial in Weeroona Park, Marsh Street at 11am.

General Meeting

Sub Branch Members are encouraged to attend this General Meeting to discuss the following -

  • Nominations for State President - members must advise our delegate on who they will vote for at the upcoming 2024 State Congress. Nominees are Stephen Day OAM and William (Bill) Whitburn

  • Proposed Sub Branch Constitution Changes to include a grievance process and to include publicly benevolent objects.

RSL Sub Branch AGM

Annual General Meeting

The Stanthorpe RSL Sub Branch will hold its Annual General Meeting at Stanthorpe RSL Services Club at 2.00pm on Sunday 24th March 2024. 

The Sub Branch Board encourages all members to attend, as this is your chance to see how the association has gone over the last 12 months and have a say in the future of the association.

The following Board positions will become vacant at the beginning of the AGM. (Sub Branch President and Board Members/Directors).

Nomination Forms for the above positions will be available for collection from the Sub Branch Secretary, Paul Petter, on Tuesday or Friday between 10.00am and 12.00noon or from the front counter at the RSL Services Club. 

Completed Nomination Forms are to be lodged in the returns box located in the foyer of the RSL Services Club by 5pm on Sunday 3rd March 2024.

At the end of the Annual General Meeting all members are invited to stay and enjoy light refreshments with your Board Members.

Vietnam Veterans Day 2021

Vietnam Veterans, and community members attended the Vietnam Veterans Day commemorative service at Weeroona Park Stanthorpe on August 18, 2021.

Vietnam Veterans Day coincides with the anniversary of the Battle of Lang Tan that occurred in South Vietnam on 18th August 1966.

School Bursary Awards

Each year, the Stanthorpe RSL Sub Branch presents a book as an award to a Year 6 student of each of the fourteen public primary schools in the district. The award is given to a student who displays the ANZAC Spirit.

The values of the ANZAC Spirit include such human qualities as courage, mateship, fairness, persistence, integrity, humour, initiative, endurance, determination, ingenuity, respect, and the "selfless spirit of ANZAC".
